Lismore’s Education Facilities


Southern Cross University
The Lismore campus of one of Australia’s most well known universities can be found in East Lismore. Southern Cross University in Lismore is known for its creative, relaxed campus and state-of-the-art learning facilities. Goodman Plaza is the hub of student life at SCU Lismore, with the new three-storey library, a heated indoor pool and gym, biomechanics and science laboratories, music and radio recording studios, a health clinic, art studios and student accommodation being just a few of the other highlights on campus. Students range from Northern Rivers locals to international students who wholeheartedly embrace the local lifestyle. 


Lismore Public Schools
Lismore is blessed with a fantastic selection of public primary and secondary schools spread all over the city. No matter which area you reside, there is a great range of schooling options for your children. Lismore’s public primary schools include Lismore Public School, Albert Park Public School, Wyrallah Road Public School, Lismore Heights Public School, Goonellabah Public School and Lismore South Public School.
 
The public secondary schools in the area include Lismore High School, Kadina High School and Richmond River High School. 


Lismore Private Schools
The city of Lismore is also lucky enough to play home to various private schools both primary and secondary (and some K-12). The popular private schools in the area include Trinity Catholic College, St John’s College Woodlawn, Blue Hills College, St Cathage’s Primary School, Our Lady Help of Christians Primary School and Summerland Christian College. 


Lismore’s Health Facilities


Lismore Base Hospital
Lismore Base is the region’s largest hospital and is the major referral public hospital for the Northern Rivers. The hospital houses a maternity unit, paediatric ward, cancer care unit, coronary care, intensive care unit, high dependency unit, an emergency department, general wards and much more. The hospital began a redevelopment program in 2013 to upgrade the variety of health services available and the installation of a new multi-storey car park, making this the hospital of choice for people all over the region. 


St Vincent’s
St Vincent’s Hospital in Lismore is centrally located and only 3 minutes drive from Lismore Base Hospital. St Vincent’s is a private hospital that provides individualised care to patients in the Northern Rivers community. The hospital provides acute medical, surgical, rehabilitation and palliative care and also houses St Joseph’s Nursing Home within its grounds, as well as the Friends Child Care Centre, a long day care centre for babies, toddlers and preschool age children. 


Entertainment facilities


Lismore Shopping Square
Lismore Shopping Square is the city’s largest shopping centre with four major retailers – Woolworths, BIG W, Kmart and Coles – and 75 specialty stores, as well as a large food court to make your shopping spree a breeze. There is also a range of handy services with shop fronts in the Square, including travel agents, newsagents, hairdressers, beauticians and nail artists, a gym, automotive services and more – all under one roof in air conditioned comfort! And don’t miss the Lismore Car Boot Markets held on the first and third Sunday of every month, when the massive car park at the Square transforms into an arts and crafts wonderland. 


Lismore Central Shopping Centre
Conveniently located in the heart of the city in Carrington Street, Lismore Central Shopping Centre is a great base for your weekly shopping needs with a Woolworths supermarket, butcher, fruit and vegetable store and a variety of services, specialty stores and take away food shops to explore. Due to its great location in inner city Lismore, getting there is easy. Public transport and a taxi rank sit right out the front, and there is plenty of undercover parking. 


Lismore Worker’s Club
A favourite with locals all over the Northern Rivers, Lismore Worker's Club is Lismore’s largest club and is the leading destination for members and their guests to catch up with friends and family over lunch and dinner. Enjoy a diverse food and drinks menu with tasty dishes and old favourites as you dine in one of the many dining areas – all while the kids play in the children’s area situated just off the main dining room. Catch the weekly live entertainment or see one of the many major touring shows on offer throughout the year. 


Birch Carroll and Coyle
Birch Carroll and Coyle is Lismore’s local cinema complex located in Keen Street. Fitted out with four cinemas, this is the place to watch all the best new releases and the latest in 3D movies. Kids and teenagers will also love the arcade area with plenty of games to be played before and after the movie screens. The candy bar has plenty of sweet and savoury snack options, and there is also hot coffee available from the cinema café.
