With a population of almost 50,000, it’s no wonder Lismore has a fantastic selection of amenities – opportunities for employment and study abound, and there is no shortage of dining and entertainment options. On one side of town sits Southern Cross University; at the other, a bustling city centre lined with cafes, restaurants and plenty of cosmopolitan conveniences. Lismore is a shoppers’ paradise with Lismore Shopping Square, Lismore Central Shopping Centre and the Goonellabah Village all at your fingertips, and plenty of fashion boutiques to be found in the many arcades hidden in town.
A city well versed in education, there are plenty of public and private schools to choose from, as well as preschools, TAFE colleges and Australia’s main Southern Cross University Campus. Other excellent facilities include the region’s major public hospital, the centrally located Lismore Base Hospital, as well as a private hospital, cinema complex and the Lismore Worker’s Club, Lismore’s local club with food and drinks, live music, and family entertainment.
Sitting on nature’s doorstep, Lismore offers plenty of opportunities to explore the outdoors, with lush rainforests, rolling green hills, sparkling waterfalls and ancient volcanoes never too far away – and for water babies, the pristine beaches of Ballina and Byron Bay are only a short drive.
